This door allow your dog to walk right through this screen and it will automatically shut behind them. No more slamming doors, ripped screens or open doors to let bugs into the house.

This screen magically shuts with a magnetic closure; Velcro® is used to keep the screen in place along the door frame. Easily installed in minutes without tools or damage to the door frame. The screen hangs from a tension rod and can be taken down.

Two height adjustment tunnels at the top of the screen and the built-in width adjustment allow for installation in odd-sized door frames. U

Pet Food - A Decision That Will Affect Their Health

September 30, 2006 by pet-admin · Leave a Comment

boston terrier puppy4.jpg

Over time, it has become increasingly apparent that we need to watch what we eat in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce the effects of aging and diseases in the body. Our pets are in the same position as we are. By eating foods that are hard to digest, full of chemicals or contain little nutritional value, we are reducing the quality and the length of life of mans best friend.

Just imagine if we were to live on a diet completely made from synthetic materials and empty calories, or what we would call junk food. Because of this lifestyle, our health would suffer. We would be more likely to suffer from disease and reduce our lifespan considerably. The same applies to our pets, and often without our knowing it, we are the main cause of this problem.

Treating Hip Dysplasia In Dogs

September 30, 2006 by pet-admin · Leave a Comment

cockapoo pupp.jpg

Hip dysplasia is a very common condition in most breeds of dogs. Often larger dogs are more prone to hip dysplasia but it can also occur even in the small and toy breeds. Hip dysplasia is a degenerative condition that usually affects dogs as they age, although some breeds can start showing the symptoms of hip dysplasia at young ages as well.

The hip of the dog works the same as the hip joint in a human. It is a ball and socket joint with the socket attached to the pelvis and the ball part of the joint attached to the femur or thigh bone. Normally the ball and socket fit together properly and there is movement in all directions. There is a ligament and other protective tissues that hold the ball and socket together and keep the joint strong and healthy.

First Aid For Your Dog

Most people understand or know a bit of first aid for humans but many dog owners are not as familiar with the basic first aid for their dogs. While several of the techniques are very similar it is important to review them and to keep basic first aid supplies for dogs in your house or with you when you are on an outing. A small first aid supply kit kept in your car can be a live saver for your pet.

There are several fairly common issues that can arise when you are out with your dog that require first aid attention. As with all injuries it is important to get the dog to a vet as soon as possible.

Heat stroke - many dogs, especially those with short muzzles (brach cephalic) dogs such as Pugs, Bulldogs, Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, Boxers and Pekingese can suffer from heat stroke. This occurs because the nasal passages are not long enough to allow proper cooling of the air. If you notice your dog begins to wheeze or even stagger and cough immediately discontinue the activity and get the dog into the shade or in a cool area. Sponge the dog with cool water and encourage them to drink small amounts.

Simple Advice For House Breaking Your Golden Retriever

September 29, 2006 by pet-admin · 1 Comment

golden-retriever.jpg

When you first bring home your new little golden retriever puppy your life will be turned upside down for a while. It will be a very exciting time for everyone concerned. Obviously one of the first things that you will be doing is house breaking your golden retriever especially if he is to be an inside dog. Many people have different ideas about doing this but most of the advice is similar.

You can use crates when house breaking your golden retriever or you can just fence off an area in your home that will be acceptable if your pup has an accident. And there will be accidents. I find that the kitchen or laundry are good places as you usually have floors that can be easily cleaned up.

You can use sheets of paper, doggy pads or dog litter to help you toilet train your pup. These are great especially when you have to leave your dog alone. When you are with him you need to watch him all the time and when he does have an accident you must not punish him.

Arthritis Treatment for Dogs

September 29, 2006 by pet-admin · Leave a Comment

jack russell puppy.jpg

Storm and I were best friends from the day I found him abandoned and covered with ticks. About 6 years ago, however, our playtime became a burden to Storm instead of fun. He developed arthritis. The symptoms began with general slowing down of his movements. Then it became harder for him to move because of stiffness in his joints. He had trouble getting up and climbing stairs.

I took Storm to the vet and was disappointed with the arthritis treatments for dogs that were available. The vet suggested giving Storm aspirin for the pain. That did work for a while, but it didn’t fix the problem. It just hid it. I stopped giving Storm aspirin after he almost died from taking it! He contracted a very serious intestinal infection. This almost tragic event sparked my desire to find a safe arthritis treatment for dogs. I wanted to find an arthritis treatment for dogs that didn’t just cover up the problem, but actually helped. I found a product called Syn-flex Liquid Glucosamine that claimed to be an arthritis treatment for dogs. I ordered a bottle and started to give it to Storm
