This tips coming from Dr. James Ricahrds of Cornell University’s Feline Health Center, tips for cat owners on how to prepare your cat for having its teeth brushed.

* Start brushing you cat’s teeth when it is young and teachable. It’s more difficult to teach an adult cat to accept having its teeth brushed.
* Get your cat comfortable about having you touch its mouth by gently placing your finger in its mouth or on its teeth during lap time or when petting or grooming.
* Try putting your cat’s favorite foods on the toothbrush and letting it get used to it before attempting to brush.
