The guidelines to a healthy fit puppy on to there dog years. The more you follow a nutritional routine the healthier your puppy/dog will be. Your puppy/dogs nutrition is very important in keeping your puppy/dog healthy and fit. An over weight puppy means an overweight dog, which may lead to some heath concerns for him.

You should first and always consult your puppy’s/dog’s Veterinarian for the proper food intake for your puppy, They can tell you the proper food to feed your puppy/dog and also the amount of food to give your Puppy/dog. Your veterinarian will probably inform you that during you puppies first year, it is very important that their diet contains plenty of minerals like calcium, as well as protein, vitamins and calories for energy.

The Amount of food for your puppy/dog typically follows this pattern:

Puppy’s 8-12 weeks need to eat 4 times a day.
Puppy’s 3-6 months 2 times a day.
Puppy’s first year should go to 1 meal aday.

Following this pattern with plenty of exercise should keep him fit and trim. Being as food can be an important part of training your puppy, the occasional treat for good behavior is fine as long as its not overdone.

The Food given to your puppy/dog is also given in stages such as:

Puppy food
Middle age dogs
Adult dogs

These stages are also important to remember the vitamins and proteins are different for different ages. For example, puppy food is made especially for them with all of the extra vitamins and proteins they need to grow and become healthy adult dogs.

2) Orthopedic /joint problems
3) Respiratory problems that may also lead to heart problems

Your puppy is your pal. Keeping him fit and trim is easy to do and very important to his health. It is up to you, the dog owner, to make diet and exercise a consistent part of training your puppy.
