Smart Tips To Administer Medicine To Stubborn Dogs
March 30, 2008 by pet-admin · Leave a Comment
Dogs are highly intelligent animals and they often detect abnormalities in their feeds and liquids offered to them by their owners. Hence, this often becomes a challenge for many dog owners to administer medication in the proper fashion. Here are a few tips for those difficult moments.
Do not force a stubborn dog to take its medicine; doing so may eventually lead to a more difficult administering in the future. Depending on the type of medicine and texture, mix them properly with either food or liquid and delay their feeding or drinking time by an hour or two.
Your dog should be hungrier or thirstier by this time. Start off by feeding them with a small portion of medicated feed. If this technique doesn’t work, start off with a small portion of normal unmixed feed and progressively introduce and increase the portions of medicated feeding.

Manx Problem
March 27, 2008 by pet-admin · Leave a Comment
We got an email from Winnie Wong and ask a question about her Manx
I have an eight years old male Manx. His name is Shorty.
Shorty had a blocking problem caused by a scar tissue at the tip of his
penis at the beginning of March. The vet performed a PU surgery and
removed his penis. During the first week after the surgery, Shorty was
unable to urinate. The vet had to express his bladder in order to let the
urine out.The vet then gave Shorty some medication to help contracts the bladder.
Shorty has been dropping and dribbling since then. According to the
vet, the nerves on the lower body of Manx are different from those of the
regular cats. The surgery could have triggered the dropping and
dribbling problem. The vet had tried everything they could to help Shorty.
According to the vet, Shorty’s problem could be a permanent issue.Shorty still walks into his litter box once in a while. I could see the
muscle on his butt contracted. It seemed like he was trying to push
something out. Nothing came out unfortunately, as his pee and poops
dribbled and dropped 5 to 10 minutes before he walked into the litter box.Could you please kindly give me some advice on Shorty’s problem? Is
there any other method to cure his problem? He sleeps well, has good
appetite, he plays and he is happy. I really don’t want to put him to
sleep as he is still young. I live in a 600 sq ft studio. Shorty is
currently living in my kitchen. He is not very happy about this as we used
to share the same pillow and the same blanket. My income does not allow
me to get a place with backyard
anyone can help her?
thanks

Pet Health - Dental Disease Is Overlooked
March 25, 2008 by pet-admin · Leave a Comment
Dental disease in pets is actually one of the most common and most overlooked pet diseases. Proper tooth and gum exams are now part of a regular veterinary visit because dental health is an essential aspect of your pet’s long-term health.
What are the symptoms of pet dental disease?
Bad breath is the most common symptom of poor pet dental health. Some other symptoms include swollen gums, difficulty or pain when chewing, excess tartar, poor appetite, and weight loss. If your pet has gingivitis, you want to make sure that it does not escalate to periodontal disease, which could cause the infection to spread to other organs.
How is it diagnosed?
Dental disease can only be diagnosed after a complete oral examination which is performed by a veterinarian. Following the oral exam most veterinarians will also look for other common signs of dental disease. Once the disease is diagnosed the veterinarian can then set up a treatment plan.
