Manx Problem

We got an email from Winnie Wong and ask a question about her Manx

I have an eight years old male Manx. His name is Shorty.

Shorty had a blocking problem caused by a scar tissue at the tip of his
penis at the beginning of March. The vet performed a PU surgery and
removed his penis. During the first week after the surgery, Shorty was
unable to urinate. The vet had to express his bladder in order to let the
urine out.

The vet then gave Shorty some medication to help contracts the bladder.
Shorty has been dropping and dribbling since then. According to the
vet, the nerves on the lower body of Manx are different from those of the
regular cats. The surgery could have triggered the dropping and
dribbling problem. The vet had tried everything they could to help Shorty.
According to the vet, Shorty’s problem could be a permanent issue.

Shorty still walks into his litter box once in a while. I could see the
muscle on his butt contracted. It seemed like he was trying to push
something out. Nothing came out unfortunately, as his pee and poops
dribbled and dropped 5 to 10 minutes before he walked into the litter box.

Could you please kindly give me some advice on Shorty’s problem? Is
there any other method to cure his problem? He sleeps well, has good
appetite, he plays and he is happy. I really don’t want to put him to
sleep as he is still young. I live in a 600 sq ft studio. Shorty is
currently living in my kitchen. He is not very happy about this as we used
to share the same pillow and the same blanket. My income does not allow
me to get a place with backyard

anyone can help her?

thanks
