Holistic medicine is a practice that involves all aspects of the patients life when diagnosing and treating a particular condition. It is not a method of treatment but rather an approach to how treatment should be applied. Just as holistic medicine applies to humans, it can also be a tool to treat animals and with so many people in the US using alternative medicine, the demand for products and information on holistic veterinarian medicine has increased.
Holistic veterinarian medicine might include treatments such as, nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture and veterinarian chiropractic.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine has been around since the dawn of mankind when early humans most likely learned to use healing plants from observing the animals around them. It is a known fact that wild animals heal themselves by eating plants that they find intuitively in their environment. Continue reading 'Holistic Medicine For Pets'»
A dog’s illness symptoms vary from one environment to the other. It may be perfectly acceptable that your cuddly Pekingese wants to lay around by your side all the time, but this may be a warning signal if somebody else’s generally active Pekingese is behaving this way towards them. The key to recognizing illness symptoms in dogs is to pay attention to them and see if they are doing unusual things that are out of character. Many dog illnesses symptoms become obvious when you start to look for them.
Are you thinking of buying one or a few hermit crabs? Hermit crab care seems so simple. Just put them in a little plastic critter carrier with a cap of food and a sponge of water and they’ll be fine and dandy.
My 3 proven steps for flea infestation elimination: what the experts don’t tell you.
About me: I have been a pet owner for over 50 years, and for 40 of those years I have known and understood the ill effects of Fleas. Oh yeah, I also spent a few years working for one of the Nation’s leading “Pest Control” Companies.
We have all had, or will have flea problems, whether we want to admit it or not. Even if you don’t have pets, fleas can still haunt your home from time to time. Why call a “Pest Control” company when you can do it yourself, and cheaper. It really isn’t that difficult to do yourself.
First thing that must be understood is that killing the adult fleas that you can see, is like only treating the symptom only, not the cause. The real problem is waiting to be born.
Here is information about the adult Flea, its eggs, and the larva/pupa, they are all stages that need to be treated. This is why so many people can’t really get rid of fleas, they miss the real problems. However, most “Pest Control” Companies know this, but don’t tell you that they will have to come back and re-treat your home…again, and again. This is considered a “One Time Treatment”, so their free return treatment policy (if they have one) will not apply after 30 days, if at all.

Pets are one of God’s greatest gifts to us. They are special in many ways. Pets can have therapeutic effect on people. They have become family members because of their loyalty and faithfulness to us. The best way to reward our pets is make sure that they are healthy. Knowing how to choose the right pet medicine is always as important as choosing the right medicine for your own health.
Pet lovers need to understand their pets better before they even take care of one. It’s not enough to own a cat, a dog or a bird without knowing well their needs. Once we own a pet or pets, we accept the responsibility to take really good care of them. We need to consider the fact that they are already part of the family and we would treat them with outmost care and love that they need. When Dr Joey contacted me, he wanted my help with his dogs. He had been putting up with really bad behavior from them for a long time. He was grieving terribly for his Forever Dog Friend, Satin, who had passed away. On top of that, his other best dog friend, Shami, had also recently passed away after a terrible and mysterious illness.
He told me his heart was so heavy with grief that he just didn’t know how he could go on. His health was very bad (he was suffering from cancer) and he could hardly move because he was in so much pain. To complicate matters, his remaining three dogs were out of control. They jumped on everyone, which was terribly embarrassing. They barked and would not quiet down, and they urinated in the house. One dog would go outside — then come back inside to pee!
Dutchess was physically launching an attack on the front door anytime someone just walked by, and since the door was largely glass, Dr Joey was afraid she’d break the door and hurt herself in the process! He couldn’t take them for walks because they would pull in all directions and one dog would have to be dragged along… terribly frustrating and dangerous for all of them. Plus, little Zena and Zoey were afraid to go outside. And, to make matters even worse, they had begun fighting amongst themselves. One of the typical diseases to inflict household pets includes the infestation of the digestive tract by intestinal and other parasitic worms. Intestinal parasitism is likely a tricky disorder considering that no physical symptoms would indicate the intrusion of parasitic worms such as the hookworm, roundworm and whipworm. Nonetheless, if a cat or dog suffers from chronic diarrhea or is unusually sluggish despite the regular feeding of nutritious meals-while sporting a dull mane or a swollen belly, then this might just be a signal of worm infestation.
A feline or canine de-wormer constituted by anthelminthic compounds will most likely be prescribed by your veterinarian. While chemical-based treatments may be considered as effective de-wormers, veterinary drugs singly operate to neutralize the parasites lurking in your pet’s digestive tract. This method of treatment is deficient when related to the principles of holistic health care. Know that holistic approaches serve as the central paradigm in the manufacture of standardized pet herbal supplements that have now been distributed in the mainstream, following prior endorsement with the FDA.
