Holistic veterinarians are different from conventional veterinarians. Animal health care in general is split. There are conventional vets, holistic vets and, more recently, integrative vets. While many principles are shared among practices, methodologies are often quite different.
Traditional veterinary practice (conventional) is much like what Western medicine is for humans. The focus is aimed at determining what the problem is and then trying to solve it.

Do you use safeguards to protect your pet against parasites? Most veterinarians advise pet owners to check their pets often to see if they suffer from parasites. They also advise pet owners to use products year round to prevent diseases caused by fleas and ticks.
Since you never know when your dog or cat may be affected by parasites, it is important to treat them regularly for fleas and ticks. When animals are not properly treated, it could lead to serious health conditions due to diseases carried by parasites. These same parasites can also cause harm to humans as well. Your infested pets can pass parasites to their pet owners and can cause diseases like Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

QUESTION:
Ive just recently noticed my beloved companion “shadow” a 13 y/o
Mainecoon has sort of lost the sprung in his step and has been having trouble
getting to “higher ground” ala the coffee table which is not high at
all and other places he likes to rest. He doesnt appear to be in any pain and
he passed his last physical with flying colors so im wondering if this could
just be due to his age;
And because he’s getting older are there any
supplements/vitamins I can give him that might give him the little boost he
needs. Pilling him is not an option and I do have four other cats (all indoor)
so separating their food
is quite the challenge. Thanks for your expertise.

Hamsters can make wonderful pets. But it is important to know what you are getting into before you decide to bring one into your home. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Basic hamster care
Hamsters in the wild eat grains, vegetables, seeds, grasses, insects and fruit. So in captivity, they need a broad selection of different kinds foods to obtain all of their essential nutrients. Since they naturally store food in the pouches of their mouth, it may not be necessary to provide food everyday. It is also important to remove uneaten food from the cage periodically so that it doesn’t spoil.
