QUESTION:

In the last 2 months my dog has gained weight. About 7-8 pounds. I have not changed his diet at all. Could there be a health problem that could be causing this weight gain?

ANSWER

In the first place you must be sure that your pet has not been fed secretly by some of the members of the family or by the neighbors.
Consider hypothyroidism and check thyroid hormones.
Note the prescribed amount of food daily and reexamine your dog’s diet. Take some weight control commercial food.
