It commences as a simple upper respiratory tract infection that manifests in the intermittent coughing of a poor canine. The dry coughing and gagging sounds would have been tolerable if the disease could be isolated with the dog in the full course of treatment. But then again, Kennel Cough happens to be a very contagious infection and the disease could easily transmit to another pet dog in the home or more conveniently in enclosed places such as kennel quarters or boarding schools to infect the entire canine population lodged in the confines. Moreover, kennel cough could progress into a severe respiratory complication such as pneumonia, should the pet owner opt to ignore the dog’s condition and disregard the need for treatment.

As a matter of convention, a treatment of antibiotics and veterinary drugs-following consultations with the veterinarian, should subdue the bacteria or virus and dissolve the flimsy mucus inhabiting the canine’s respiratory tract. Nevertheless, in case the infection becomes increasingly persistent, this should get you thinking if continued use of pet medications would be favorable to your pet’s long-term health.
